Har Ghar Tiranga is a campaign launched by the Government of India to celebrate the 75th year of India’s independence. The campaign aims to encourage people to hoist the national flag at their homes from 13th to 15th August 2022, and to share their selfies with the flag on the website Har Ghar Tiranga. The campaign also seeks to promote awareness and respect for the national flag and its code of conduct.

The campaign is a part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, a year-long celebration of India’s freedom struggle and achievements. The Mahotsav will culminate on 15th August 2023, the 75th anniversary of India’s independence.

To participate in the campaign, people need to follow these steps:

  • Register on the website Har Ghar Tiranga and get a certificate of appreciation.
  • Hoist the national flag at their homes from 13th to 15th August 2022, following the flag code of conduct.
  • Take a selfie with the flag and upload it on the website Har Ghar Tiranga.
  • Pin a virtual flag on the map and see how many people have joined the campaign across the country.

The flag code of conduct is a set of rules and guidelines for the display and use of the national flag. Some of the important points of the flag code are:

  • The flag should be made of handspun and handwoven or machine-made, cotton/polyester/wool/silk/khadi bunting.
  • The flag should be rectangular in shape, with the ratio of the length to the height being 3:2.
  • The flag should be undamaged and spotless. No other flag or object should be placed above or alongside the national flag.
  • The flag should not touch the ground or be used as a tablecloth or decoration.
  • The flag should be flown from sunrise to sunset, unless it is illuminated at night.
  • The flag should be hoisted briskly and lowered slowly, with dignity and respect.
  • Har Ghar Tiranga is a unique initiative to strengthen the bond between India and its citizens. It is a way of expressing solidarity and pride towards the nation and its glorious history. It is also a way of honoring the sacrifices and contributions of the freedom fighters and the martyrs who gave their lives for the country.
