Vivek Ramaswamy tried to become the Republican candidate for the 2024 US presidential election. He was a biotech entrepreneur and new to politics. He wanted to follow in Donald Trump’s footsteps as a wealthy outsider and a popular figure. Ramaswamy praised Trump as the “best president of the 21st century” but believed Republicans should bring in “fresh legs” to enhance the “America First agenda.”
Unfortunately, Ramaswamy’s campaign didn’t catch on with Republican voters, who still preferred Trump. In the Iowa caucuses, the first competition of the 2024 presidential race, Ramaswamy came in fourth, behind Trump, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, and former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley. Realizing he couldn’t continue in the race, he decided to drop out on January 15.
He congratulated Trump on winning in Iowa and endorsed him for the presidency. Ramaswamy pledged to support Trump in becoming the next president and urged his followers to join in advancing the America First movement. He thanked his family, staff, and volunteers, expressing pride in the campaign they had run.
Ramaswamy, the first Indian American to run for president as a Republican, was the son of immigrants who arrived in the US in the 1970s. He graduated from Harvard University and Yale Law School, accumulating significant wealth in the biotech industry. A vocal critic of woke culture and corporate elites, he wrote a best-selling book titled “Woke, Inc.” His goal was to revive the American dream and advocate for the overlooked people.
